Happy Holidays Woofer

I got to see Santa Paws last night! One of our crazy neighbors has a Griswald-ish holiday decorating scheme (he has 50,000 lights on and around his house), and on the weekends they have the real live Santa Paws there! So, we walked down and got my picture taken. He was cool, but there was a cute little poodle off to the right that was capturing my attention.

For Mama

My mama is out of town (again) this weekend... I thought I better send her some pictures of me so she doesn't forget how cute I am. Also, I hope she doesn't forget that my birthday is Wednesday.

I am so tired... Daddy just grilled and I got me some steak. Full bellied woofer is a tired woofer.

This was this 'mornin'... So tired. I don't sleep well without the mamma in bed.

I was using my hedgehog as a pillow earlier today. Good thing I left some stuffing in that one.

Hurry home mamma! We miss you!!

A Little Poolside Woofering...

Mama is to scared to watch the Yankees game, so she made me go outside with her. Not so bad... I get my own chair and dinner by the pool!

Stud Muffin

We've known it for a long time, but now I have the t-shirt to prove it.

I am, in fact, a stud muffin.

I'm A Good/Big Boy...

Sorry for the lack of posting lately... the parents have been busy with this "work" thing of their's, and it's hard for me to type with my big paws. Anyway...

Feeling better... no more throwing up or anything, which is good for everyone. I probably ate something I shouldn't have, and that was it. Everything in the yard just tastes so good!

Today, the parents went off to some place called "breakfast." They didn't take me with them, which was terrible. But... they did leave me home alone in the house... not in the little bathroom where I normally stay when no one is home. They wanted to see if they could trust me. Well, I am a good boy! All I did was sleep! The couch is so much more comfy than the little bed I have. Take a look!

I'm going to be a single parent woofer for most of the week. Dad has to go out of town twice and mom has to go out of town once. After today, I don't think we'll all be together until Saturday afternoon. Sad... but as long as I have the smooshy couch to lay on, I'll get by.

Negative is Good, Right?

The Vet called... turns out my tests came back negative, which is actually good. People are weird... why is negative a good thing? Shouldn't they way "hey Mac, we have positive results for you!' ? Oh well... just happy I don't have any worms inside me... that's nasty.
Dad is heading out to play golf... it's 100 degrees! He's nuts! I foresee a bit of this in my future today... a little pooside woofering. I like laying by the water and then getting up for a nap under the shaded table.

Sick... Kinda

I went to the vet this afternoon. The mom and dad got nervous because I've done some throwing up the last couple days... nothing major, but they are very protective. I also had a little tiny bump on my shoulder, so they wanted to get that checked out. So, I had a needle in my arm and a thermometer in my butt! That is not a fun way to spend the afternoon! Now they'll be following me around with a little plastic cup to put my poop in... humans are weird.

I did find out that I weigh 58.8 pounds... the vet person said that I am a very physically fit Basset Hound. With the exception of the vomiting and mystery bumps of course.

I'll keep you posted... nothing to worry about though.

Some FAQs About Mac

Not an awful lot to report lately, so I thought I'd take a minute to go through some FAQs about me.

Do you have any nicknames? Do I! I am affectionately refered to as Mac, Mackie, Little Woofer, LW (for Little Woofer), Mac the Dude, Mac a dude, Macmanus (when I am bad), Little Man, and of course, The Baron.

Who is your best friend? Hmmmm... tough one. I love all my woofer peeps. Daisy is the best. I also love Buttercup and the crazy pool woofers that visit from time to time.

Mama's boy or Daddy's boy? Mama. Dad is cool, but mama is all about the snuggling and sleeping.

Favorite food? Dad's grilled chicken, but I don't get it often. I actually don't eat a lot... the vet says it is good that I regulate my own weight. Sometimes I won't eat for a day, and then mom will hand feed me. Hahaha... sucker.

Favorite treat? Dingos! And these little peanut butter cookie things they give me to go into my room in the morning.

Arch nemesis? Rabbits. Actually, I don't mind them... I just want to lick them, I swear!

Favorite activities? Sleeping, cuddling, watching home shows with mom, watching golf with dad (I like watching the ball roll on the green...), walks with grandma, time with other woofers, sleeping (I really like to sleep), chasing rabbits, barking.

Favorite toy? I've destroyed most of my poofy toys, but I still like chewing on all of them. I have one we call "long woofer" because it is a big long stretch looking dog... he's fun to chew. I'll retrieve a tennis ball once or twice, but I get bored with that pretty easily.

Going to the Spa...

My parents are going out of town this weekend, so it is off to the "puppy spa" for me... I know that Ernest is always talking about going into "lockdown", but our facilities are actually pretty nice... I get massages, manicures, special treats, a "suite", and my own TV. It's pretty cool. I wouldn't want to do it for too long, but for a couple days, it's nice.

I'll blog at y'all next week... woofs.

Woofer Party Version 2.0!!!

We had another woofer pool party yesterday! All of my woofer friends came over... Murphy (aka Waterdog), Maggie, Sophie and of course... Daisy. Oh yeah... their parents came too.

Here are some photos from the day.

Daisy came over early... we ran around for about 30 minutes, and then retired to our normal nap places. She does love the tile floor.

Eventually, the other woofers showed up. This is me, Daisy and Maggie surrounding my mom... aka "the treat lady."

Sophie basically said "screw the treats... I want the real food!"

Sophie and Maggie enter the pool... daintily. Daisy and I stay the hell out of the pool... Bassets are built for laying down, not for swimming! Murphy takes a different approach...

Diving...

Swimming...

And being soaked... the is one jumpin in the pool to get a tennis ball woofer. If my tennis ball goes in the pool, I usually wait for dad to fish it out for me.
I had a great time, but was so tired... I went to bed early and slept in.

Next woofer pool party is slated for Labor Day Weekend...

And we got other great news... Daisy is going to be around for the next month!

Woofer Revenge

It's a shame this is not a voodoo doll... oh well. I know woofers are not mean, but this is a little cathartic nonetheless...

Basset Play Date Photos

Dad finally got around to downloading the photos from Sunday's fun...
This is Buttercup and Daisy... eating my lunch.

Daisy... chewing on my hoof.
Daisy again, walking around like she lives here... we wish she did! Isn't she pretty???!!!

Truthfully, this is what Basset Play Day looks like... three Bassets laying down for a nice long nap on the nice cool tile floor.

I was so tired, I needed another nap!

That's my dad, getting in on the play day... Daisy has a very scratchable belly.

Basset Play Date!!!

We had a Basset play date day yesterday... my girlfriend, Daisy, is in town... she came over with Buttercup. Lots of fun was had. Dad took a bunch of pictures but was "too tired" last night to download them from his camera... apparently downloading pictures from a camera is a very physically demanding task. So, we'll have some up later tonite. Stay tuned for Basset Cuteness times three!

Dear Mike Vick...

I think you are a very bad man. My dad says that indictments are easy to come by, and that you are innocent until proven guilty... but I think you are a very bad man. What kind of man allows woofer fighting at his house? And I don't mean the playful fighting like me and Daisy on my birthday...

I mean the bad fighting. The fighting where woofers get hurt really bad, or worse. Who do you think you are? What makes you so insecure that you have to build your ego through woofer fights? Woofers are good people, and only act the way they did when they are forced to. No woofer should be forced to act that way. Woofers are full of love.

You have all the resources and money and kibble in the world... you could have been such a good woofer daddy, but instead, you are the worst. Even if you didn't do it yourself, you allowed it to happen. You are a bad man.

I hope you get what you really deserve, you terrible awful man.

- Mac aka Baron Von Woofer

p.s. You suck at quarterback too.

Buttercup!

Sorry for the lack of posting lately... dad and mom have been "busy." He did some stupid golf thing all weekend, and mom was doing the lay by the pool thing.

Anyway...

On Friday, we had some people over for dinner. Grandma, Paige, and Trish. Paige and Trish brought the best woofer in the neighborhood... Buttercup! She's an older Basset woofer, and the sister of my girlfriend, Daisy. Daisy moved back to College Station though, so I don't get to see her much. As you can see, Buttercup rocks!

Buttercup, up close and personal.

What's for dinner???? This is us running into the dining room, from the kitchen.

Paige and Butter...

Me and Buttercup after a long night of running around and eating some treats. I did most of the running.

Late Night Rabbit Chasin'...

Dad took me out last night around 1:30... that's what he gets for letting me drinking water right before going to bed.

Anyway... I walked around the corner, and there he was... a medium sized rabbit. Normally, they dart right for the gate, as they have a little hole there that they get in and out of... but this rabbit was trying to test my nerves... he darted the other way... but I saw it coming and cut him off! Then he darted back around the pool and made his escape under the other gate... but not until after I gave the little fuzz ball a good chase.

One of these days rabbits... one of these days.

Pool Party!!!

(quick question... is anyone else having trouble trying to insert a title in the 'title' box?)

Mom and dad are planning a woofer pool party! We had one last month, and it was big fun. I was exhausted. They have friends with woofers, and those crazy woofers ACTUALLY JUMP IN THE POOL! My little basset legs and big basset belly don't like the water, so I watch them go nuts. We also run around and get treats while the two-leggeds drink beer.

Here are photos from the last pool party!

This is Murphy... he's part fish. He liked the water more than he liked the land!

That's Sophie on the chair with her mom... As you can see, I was quite tired at this point, and I look like I am about to die. Sometimes I make the funniest woofer faces.

Our next woofer pool party is scheduled for the last week in July. I have no idea when that is, but I hope it is soon!

Back to Blogging
Mom and dad are back from their vacation, so I can start blogging again... they left without telling me the password on the laptop!

It was a good few days while they were gone... my grandma watched me during the day, and my neighbor had me at night. I am worn out. Normally, I sleep a lot... but not this week.

Look at how exhausted I am!

Rabbits in the Perimiter!!!

Me, mom and dad were in bed last night... Dad was watching the T.V. Mom and I were sleeping. Right before dad decided to turn off the T.V., he thought he saw a little ball of something by the bathroom door. Then it hopped!

Remember how I scattered the rabbits the other night? Well, dad apparantly left the door open when we were outside, and one hopped right into our house! He's been living in our bedroom since Friday night!

Dad was able to corner the little rabbit in the bathroom and then release him back outside.

I am being called a "bad hound" or "bad scent dog" by some in the pack... but hey, my job is to find and track these little furry balls OUTSIDE. When I am inside, it is all about relaxing.

Pool Side Woofering

The sun finally came out today... for about 20 minutes. This was me yesterday afternoon. I was sad because we couldn't go outside and toss the tennis ball around the yard.
This was me ths afternoon. As you can see, I am much happier.

I don't like to go in the water, but I do like to cuddle up on the towels and lay by the pool.

I also walk around the pool... "patroling" while the mom and dad are in there. There is this big snakey looking thing that goes around eating the dirt off the bottom of the pool, and it freaks me out.

Mom and dad are going to some place called "New York" this week. I don't get to go. My grandma is going to watch me... I like it when she's over, because she's a sucker for giving me treats and back rubs.

Rabbits...

I love rabbits... love to chase 'em... love to look at 'em... and if I could ever get one, I am sure I'd love to play with one. Mom and dad don't see it that way though. They think I want to eat them.

Last night, dad took me out back to do some business. On the way back in, my nose led me to a bush that had some smaller baby rabbits in it. They squealed and ran away, and then dad yelled at me. He went looking for them this morning, and found one. This is a bush with some pretty flowers near our pool...

And this is what dad found hiding in the bush this morning.

Now I don't get to go out to the backyard/pool area today or tomorrow... stupid rabbits.

Stupid Rain

All of this rain is aggravating... I can't go outside and play, so I watch the rabbits from the Mac Window near the front door.

After a little while, this was boring... so I jumped on the leather couch. I am not supposed to go on the leather couch, but I got in a little nap before anyone noticed.

Once I was discovered, I had to get down... I camped out by the front door again, hoping for the rain to stop. Stupid rain.

Yeah, this stupid rain is really cutting into my rabbit hunting. And my laying by the pool time.
